CHED Chair De Vera leads TSU FTRC inauguration
The chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Dr. J. Prospero "Popoy" De Vera III graced the inauguration of Tarlac State University’s Food Technology and Research Center (FTRC) as the guest of honor and speaker on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus.
This is the first time a CHED chairperson visited TSU.
Chair De Vera lauded the university's efforts on infrastructure and emphasized that quality education is not enough without the needed facilities to support it.
Also present in this event is Rep. Mark Aeron H. Sambar of the Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) party-list who promoted his community health and wellness program citing the crucial role of state universities in realizing this goal.
Other honorable guests who shared their enthusiasm for this event are Tarlac province governor Hon. Susan Yap, Capas town mayor and TSU Alumni president Hon. Reynaldo Catacutan, TSU regent and provincial board member Hon. Dennis Go, UNIFAST-CHED OIC-Executive Director IV Atty. Ryan Estevez, CHED International Affairs Staff OIC-Deputy Executive Director IV Atty. Lily Freida Milla, DOST Region III director Dr. Julius Caesar Sicat, and CHEDRO III OIC-Director Dr. Maria Teresita Semana.
The afternoon program featured the turnover of the five DOST-funded solar-powered vehicles to TSU and awarding of certificates to the TSU technology adopters.
Afterwards, the TSU Office of International Affairs presented its Internationalization Framework to Atty. Milla while the university’s executives and college deans had a roundtable discussion with Chair De Vera.
The CHED group also visited Brgy. Balanti to check on the integrated solar-powered generator and water/irrigation pump and other research and extension projects of the university. [Jodie Andrea G. Pangilinan]
