A sanitizer task-force was commissioned to create alcohol-based sanitizers primarily for TSU front liners.
As of March 24, the task force has produced 170 bottles at the Chemistry Laboratory of the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus.
"The alcohol-based sanitizer is composed of 70% ethanol, aloe vera gel as moisturizing agent, and essential oils like lavender for the scent and tea-tree oil to act as an antibacterial," said Jaidriel Meg Cabanding, a registered chemist and faculty member of the College of Science (COS).
Cabanding said they followed the range and proportions as recommended by the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines.
The sanitizer task force is headed by Prof. Claire Lagrana, a registered chemist and chairperson of the Chemistry Department, together with Marnela Guinto, Jaidriel Cabanding, Prof. Rodel Botio, Prof. Erwin Mina, Prof. Estrella Pagco, Dr. Ma. Socorro Valdez, and COS Dean, Prof. Mary Jane Rigor.
The team will continue to produce sanitizers next week upon purchasing additional materials through TSU Procurement Unit.
After providing for the TSU front liners, the remaining sanitizers will be distributed to the community front liners in the city. [Jodie Andrea G. Pangilinan]
