TSU celebrates 113th Foundation and 30th Universityhood Anniversary
Themed “TSU Collectively Moving and Achieving!”, Tarlac State University started the celebration of its 113th Foundation and 30th Universityhood Anniversary on October 13 with a Holy Mass and is set to end on October 19 with the TSU Alumni Day.
The Holy Mass on the first day was held at the Interfaith Chapel followed by the blessing of the new and modernized TSU Student Center both presided by Rev. Fr. Jason Aguilar.
After which, the tree planting activity commenced which was participated by the Administrative Council members led by University President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari.
Activities during the first day were all held at the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus.
Hon. Marquez “Mark” O. Go, Chairperson of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education of the 18th Congress and the Representative of the Lone District of Baguio, graced the second day of the celebration as guest speaker of the opening program. He also facilitated the opening of the students’ booths with TSU key officials.
The street dance and float competitions, parade of TSU pageant candidates, and the 2019 International Lecture of Dr. Ru-Jer Wang of the National Taichung University of Education in Taiwan were among the highlights of the third day.
The San Isidro Extension Campus group bagged the championship titles of the street dance and float competitions.
The lecture of Dr. Wang emphasized the importance of student mobility for it fosters maturity amongst students. Dr. Wang also said that teachers themselves should consider doing research abroad, so they can share what they have learned and improve the students’ performance.
Alongside the lecture, a partnership was forged between TSU and the Taiwan university through the signing of a memorandum of agreement. The MOA features exchange student and faculty mobility programs that will benefit the College of Teacher Education and College of Criminal Justice Education.
The fourth day of the week-long celebration includes various college activities held at the different campuses and a Latin Dance competition at the TSU gymnasium.
The most awaited Service Awards 2019 and TSU Alumni Day will take place on October 18 and October 19, respectively.
