TSU Extension Work Shows Way to Better Academe-Industry Collaboration
A rising micro-manufacturer of calamansi juice based in Barangay Estipona in Pura town is now licensed to operate, thanks to assistance provided by the Tarlac State University (TSU) through the University Extension Services Office (UESO).
This, according to UESO, is an inspiring example of the game-changing impact of the university’s extension work on the business and industry sectors.
RP Corpus Sales Enterprises recently received its License to Operate (LTO) certification from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after UESO, headed by Prof. Redemptor G. Toledano, facilitated the preparation of documents for the business organization’s registration.
In addition, UESO, the extension arm of the university, conducted seminar-workshops and provided technical coaching and mentoring to RPCS as part of the office’s Industry Development Extension (InDEx) and Extension Support Services (ESS) programs.
UESO also helped RPCS in the latter’s e-registration and site preparation for FDA inspection.
LTO certification is mandated by the FDA, formerly the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD), a government arm under the Department of Health.
FDA is responsible in licensing, registering, monitoring and regulating the flow of food, drugs, cosmetics, household hazards, veterinary products and medical devices in the country. (Jay Ann L. Pablo, UESO, and OPAI)
