TSU levels up in 110th Foundation Week Celebration
Commemorating its achievements yet still aiming for success, Tarlac State University celebrated its 110th Foundation Week and 27th Universityhood on October 10-16, 2016, with the theme “TSU Keep It Up, Level Up!”
Day 1 (October 10, 2016)
The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass. Afterwards, the Opening Program for the celebration started.
Dr. Leodivina Tagama of the College of Education led in the singing of National Anthem and TSU Hymn. Dr. Lolita Sicat, Vice President for Academic Affairs gave her welcome remarks.The TSU Performing Arts Hiphop Dance Group then entertained the crowd with their astonishing performance.
University President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari gave a report on how TSU excelled in different areas. Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles, Hon. Emmy Ladera as representative of Governor Susan Yap and Hon. Arsenio Lugay as representative of Congressman Victor Yap gave their messages and warm greetings to the University.
One highlight of the program was the Special Number by the TSU Key Officials. Headed by the University President herself, the TSU Key Officials jived to the beat of their song and later asked the visitors, personnel and students to do the same.
The Opening Program concluded with a message by Vice President for Research and Extension Services Dr. Glenard Madriaga.
On the same day, booths were opened and exhibits of award winning artworks were placed at the ground floor of Administration building.
Following in the afternoon were the Parade, Street Dance Festival and Search for Foundation King and Queen at the TSU Gymnasium. For the Street Dance Competition, three campuses of TSU competed and portrayed different festivals from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Day 2 (October 11, 2016)
College Day and College-Based Celebrations were held in different campuses of TSU.
As initiated by the Supreme Student Council, TSU had its first Spoken Poetry Contest at the TSU San Isidro Campus. The champion for the said event was TJ Amor of the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
Students also participated in different games in the Laro ng Lahi. The Philippine Science Consortium Student Chapter also organized an Inter-Collegiate Quiz Contest.
TSU also recognized its personnel with 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, 30 years and 35 years of service in the TSU Service Awards. Some of the retirees from TSU were also present in the said event.
In the evening was a cultural presentation by the TSU Performing Arts.
Day 3 (October 12, 2016)
The College of Computer Studies held a Sports Fest at the San Isidro Campus.
Also a first for TSU, an Inter-Collegiate Debate was held through the initiative of the College of Law. Among the colleges that participated were the College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Public Administration and College of Business and Accountancy.
The Inter-Collegiate Debate concluded with a final bout between COEd and CBA, with a submission: Let it be resolved the SK should be abolished. Triumphing in the competition was the CBA, with Jhayvi Dizon of COEd as the Best Speaker.
Students also participated in the Singing and Dancing Contest at the TSU Gymnasium. CASS Indayog bagged the championship in the Dance Competition.
The College of Business and Accountancy had its Socialization in the evening.
Day 4 (October 13, 2016)
Student Leaders showcased their talents in the Orgs Got Talent at the TSU Gymnasium.
11 bands from different colleges contended in the Battle of the Bands at TSU Gymansium. On the other hand, the College of Engineering hosted a chill and calm event with their Camp Paynawa at the Engineering Grounds where the students were able to experience acoustic music and spoken poetry.
Day 5 (October 15, 2016)
TSU Alumni Association Inc., together with TSU Alumni Affairs and Sports Development and Management Unit, conducted Fun Run. The categories were: Students, Guests, Alumni over 50 and Alumni below 50.
After the Awarding of winners, students, staff and visitors of TSU were able to watch a boxing match between the TSU Boxing team and other boxers from the different schools in the region.
