TSU is now IMS Certified

Marking another milestone, Tarlac State University received an Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification in awarding ceremonies held at the TSU Gymnasium last August 5, 2016, Friday.

TSU is the first state university in the Philippines to ever receive a certification.

The IMS Certification covers three areas namely: ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management System, and OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health ans Safety Management System under the United States Accreditation System (USAS).  

Guests from the local government units and agencies, state universities, local media and organizations were present in the said event. Among those were Mr. Juvie Dela Cruz, CEO of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Consultancy, Mr. Richard Wayne Evans of the W3 Solutionz, CHED Commisioner Ruperto Sanggalang, Congresswoman Sarah Jane Elago of the Kabataan Partlyist, Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles, and Tarlac City Vice Mayor Genaro Mendoza. Representing Governor Susan Yap was Emmy Ladera – Facun.

The Academic and Administrative Council, Students and Parent’s Council also attended the said event.

Prof. Redemptor G. Toledano, Director of Planning Office and Quality, Environment and Health and Safety Management Representative, gave the opening remarks and shared their office’s journey towards the IMS Certification. Prof. Toledano also introduced the members of the IMS Management Committee.

Mr. Juvie Dela Cruz and Mr. Richard Whayne Evans gave their thoughts on the importance of IMS Certification and challenges it would bring.

Mr. Evans conferred the Award to TSU, represented by the University President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari.

Upon acceptance of the Award, Dr. Mallari spoke of the University’s commitment in sustaining its efforts to retain the title and to prepare for the challenges the certification will bring to the University. She also presented the people behind the success on IMS.

Entertaining the crowd was the TSU Performing Arts who gave a World Class performance intermission number.

CHED Commissioner Ruperto Sanggalang gave his own inspirational message. He talked about the issue of Job Mismatch and what would be the essence of the certification to the service being given to people.

To seal the ceremony, Dr. Elizabeth Amurao, Director of the Quality Assurance Office, gave her closing remarks. Dr. Amurao challenged everyone to become better individually, and become the best as a university.

After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a Thanksgiving Dinner at the TSU Alumni Center, Villa Lucinda Campus. (Ruth Hazel A. Galang - OPAI)
