TSU-CCS hold seminar-workshop on cyber security systems
TARLAC CITY, Dec.9 (PIA) -- Information Technology (IT) students of Tarlac State University recently conducted a seminar-workshop on cyber security systems through the Cisco Networking Program of the College of Computer Studies.
Student Society of Information Technology Education (SSITE) officer Joanna De Ocera said the activity espoused the importance of cyber security which involves protecting the information and systems people rely on everyday—whether at home, work or school.
“The field is of growing importance due to the increasing reliance of computer systems in most societies. The increasing volume of cyber security threats including phishing scams, data theft, and other online vulnerabilities demand that we remain vigilant about securing our systems and information,” De Ocera added.
Risks of cyber security include denial of service, Malware, infected non-malicious websites, botnets, and fake security software warnings.
Relevant to this, SSITE continuously advocates for cyber security measures to prevent the risks of unprotected computers and data losses.
“It is important that we each understand the risks as well as the actions we can take to help protect our information and systems. Remember that cyber security is a shared responsibility,” De Ocera furthered.
SSITE is a recognized chapter of the National Federation of IT students and instructors known as Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators.
It aims to promote quality information technology education and optimization of student-members through capacity building activities. (CLJD/LGCC-PIA 3)
