Out of town trips can be fun. It can also be a way of relaxing frail nerves and catching up on one’s spiritual well being. In a trip quite different from their many activities, officials of Tarlac State University attended a one of a kind retreat from August 13 – 14, 2015 in Subic Bay, Zambales. The unprecedented occasion was held at the scenic Subic Grand Harbour Hotel at the Subic Freeport Zone with the theme, “Enjoying Life, Enjoying Work”. Bro. Edgardo “Ed” Villacorte, well known writer and author of several inspirational and leadership books, was the retreat master.

The TSU officials were led by University President, Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari, the Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Research and Development, and Administration and Finance, College Deans and their Assistants, Office Directors, Unit and Departments Heads and other officials.

During the retreat, Bro. Ed discussed the various attitudes and behavioral patterns that generally negate an individual’s appreciation of life and all its blessings. He emphasized, among others, the need to cut off all negative emotions from a person’s system so that he or she could improve his relationship with God and his fellowmen. “This retreat”, Bro. Ed said, “is all about developing principles that make life more enjoyable to live”.

The retreat included te4stimonials from various personalities, and other activities that focused on enhancing faith and belief in the capabilities of others do good. The two day event was capped off with commitment by all those who attended to work harmoniously and affectionately with others to better the quality of work and service of the University.

A night of dancing, singing, and games to enhance camaraderie was also held during the evening of the first day of the retreat.  Before leaving for Tarlac, the officials enjoyed a side trip to the some of the many attractions at the Subic Freeport Zone. After two days of apparent spiritual renewal, everyone was soon eager to reach home and start their tasks for the opening of classes at the University.(TSU OPAI-Text and Photos by Winifredo Luis)
