TSU conducts earthquake drill
The Tarlac State University (TSU) recently conducted an earthquake and fire drill to prepare and train personnel and students in an actual emergency.
The event was organized by TSU in coordination with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Bureau of Fire, Tarlac City Police and the Public Order and Safety Office.
According to City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Chief Engr. Arnold Samson the drill was conducted to instill awareness among university employees ans students on what to do during any fire and earthquake contingencies. The activity was also an evaluation of the CDRRMO of the strategies of the university during an emergency.
Police Inspector Glen Santiago of the City Police Station said that with regards to the order and security, the TSU drill would have a grade of 9 with 10 being the highest. This Santiago explains leaves room for improvement.
Chief Inspector Jimmy Suba of BFP lauded the Civil Security Unit of the university for doing a great job in the facilitation of the exit strategies of the students and personnel.
Suba added that a map should be provided regarding the positions of fire extinguishers so that personnel will be knowledgeable during emergencies.
Officer-in-charge, Vice President for Student Affairs Armee Rosel led the post earthquake and fire drill assessment at the VIP lounge of the university.
