CoEng students 2nd Runner up in PSME quiz show
Five students from the College of Engineering (CoEng) recently won 2nd Runner-Up in the 2nd Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Regional Quiz Show.
Mechanical Engineering students Aquilino Balot Jr., Roland Fidel Bautista, Dexter Miguel, Nheszie Cortez and Gershaw James Miranda made up the team who finished 2nd Runner-up against the best and the brightest in the region.
Advisers to the mechanical engineering students were CoEng professors Engr. Jessie Domingo and Engr. Elmer Tonelada.
“We are talking to the Parents and Teachers’ Association (PTA) of the college for possible incentives to the five students.” said Engr. Domingo. Domingo added that the first group sent to the 1st PSME competition in Legazpi, Albay back in 2013 were declared champion in the Machine Design Category.
Dr. Armee Rosel, Vice President for Student Affairs congratulated the five students and said that they represented the university well. Rosel also added that the students would be receiving incentives from the university as winners and representatives of the school.
The event was held at the Oasis Country Club Resort in the City of San Fernando, la Union.
As runner ups in the regional competition, the five engineering students will be competing further in the national finals on October at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. (TSU-OPAI)
