TSU honors scholarship benefactor Dr. Kim Seong-Yong

The Tarlac State University community gave recognition to a long-time benefactor of the university last March 31, 2015.

Dr. Kim Seong-Yong was honored by TSU administration officials led by Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari for his steadfast support and continuing commitment to help TSU achieve its long-term goals. Dr. Kim handed over to Dr. Mallari P400, 000.00, representing his contribution to various scholarship programs for deserving students in the university.

A total of ten students are now the beneficiaries of Dr. Kim’s scholarship programs which has been in place for the past several years. Among the students are Catherine Joyce Balagtas (BSCE), Mikko Glenn Bucad (BSCE), Reneth Dalit (BEED, Eddie Boy Estavillo (BSA), Regine Gamasa (BSBA), Mary Angel Javier (BSChem), Orven Odille (BIT), Noellyn Salazar (BSED) and John Mark Ybarola (BSCS).

In a simple recognition ceremony held at the university hotel, together with the students and their parents, Dr. Mallari praised Dr. Kim for his generosity and genuine commitment to TSU. The ceremony was attended by key university officials which included, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Lolita Sicat, Vice President for Admin and Finance Dr. Lorna Dimatulac, Vice President for Research, Extension Production and Development Dr. Louella Ona and Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Armee Rosel.

In return, the Gangnam native promised to give additional funding for the university’s scholarship program. (OPAI-Winifredo Luis)
