Highlight of URO Undertakings for 2014

 

The Tarlac State University Research Office conducted the “International Research Conference (IRC) 2014” last May 7 -9, 2014 at the La Maja Rica Hotel, Tarlac City. The IRC 2014 featured the latest developments in Research through the presentations coming from the different participants from over the country and abroad. It was a venue for discussions on key subjects within the field of Engineering, Technology, Business, Education, Social Sciences and the natural Sciences. It was the intention of the conference conveners to facilitate direct learning on the part of the participants through personal encounter session among international educators, researchers and practitioners. The activity was a unique academic endeavor which promoted a relaxed atmosphere and an open environment that fostered respectful participation and understanding of the outputs shared by the participants. Its international dimension enriched discussions and learning through a cross-cultural analysis of perspectives and experiences of the researchers and practitioners. In addition, the small size parallel sessions enabled the participants to gain in-depth knowledge of the perspectives of each presenter.

                It was attended by eighty researchers, research managers, educators, policy makers and research implementers from public, private and industrial sectors across the country. Some foreign participants from Asia also attended the said event.          The researchers presented their papers along the following tracks:

 Track 1. Management of Engineering and Technologies;

Track 2.  Management, Business Practice and Business Education;

Track 3.  Global Education;

Track 4.  Emerging Social Science and Philosophy Trends; and,

Track 5. Climate Change and the Natural Sciences.

                 All paper presentations were in English where each presenter was given 15 to 20 minutes each to discuss their problem, methodology and findings followed by a short question and answer with their audience where clarifications and enrichments were discussed further.

                 The conference had for its Keynote Speaker, Dr. Roger Yap Chee-Keong, President of the American Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development in Malaysia while Prof. Firth McEachern, a graduate of the Harvard Institute in the United States was one of the plenary speakers. Meanwhile the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philipppines – Baguio, Dr. Wilfredo V. Alangui, was the other plenary speaker.
