Research ethics and review guidelines orientation (seminar)

On the 6th day of the month of September year 2017, an orientation on guidelines of research ethics review was held at TSU-CCS AVR, San Isidro Campus. The said event was attended by the deans and faculty members of the three colleges of TSU namely the CCS, CAFA and CET. The orientation was organized by the TSU-Research Ethics Review Committee (TSURERC) and the speaker was the TSURERC’s Chairperson, Dr. Lucilla O. Sunga.
The orientation started with an opening prayer followed by the welcome address of the dean of CCS, Engr. Marlon V. Gamido. After that, the floor was given to Dr. Sunga who then started the seminar proper. The main agenda of the orientation is to provide the participants with the information and knowledge on how to review a research along with the processes and steps involved in this particular matter. The speaker, Dr. Sunga, discussed a series of topics such as the protocol format and review, review and approval of study protocols, submission procedures and initial review, exemptions from review, elements of research ethics, submission requirements for continuing review, decision making procedures and communicating decisions to applicants.
After the lecture, there has been an open forum which allowed the participants to ask the speaker for some questions and clarifications about the discussed matter. The orientation lasted for two hours and ended with a short closing remark.
