College of Criminal Justice Education
CCJE gives emphasis on the vulnerability of children to the teachers and students of CRHS
Jayson R. Felix, CCJE
The university’s College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) and Cristo Rey High School (CRHS) believe that children are the most vulnerable and marginalized group in society. It is because they do not have a full understanding of what is happening.
Through the extension activity organized entitled, Seminar on Different Laws Relating to Children, the CCJE was asked to provide service to CRHS on March 26, 2019. The seventy-one (71) participants composed of teachers and students, were able to gain knowledge and become vigilant in protecting the children against criminality and to be deterred in committing crimes against them.
Mr. Jonathan G. Pacifico, the Seminar Coordinator of CRHS, served as the master of ceremony and Dr. Arlene P. Apostol, School Principal, welcomed the participants and speakers, and set the logical basis of the seminar.
During the seminar, Dr. Theodore M. Timpac, Mr. Roel R. Alviar and Mr. Jayson R. Felix, who are crime experts of the CCJE, served as the speakers. Dr. Timpac discussed the legal basis in protecting minors and other laws on children while Mr. Alviar identified the role of the parents and school in protecting minors and procedure followed in dealing with a child in conflict with the law. The activity was followed by the discussion of the anti-trafficking in person act and its punishable acts and penalties by Mr. Felix.
CCJE discusses the latest trends in criminology profession in different schools and review centers in the Philippines
Jan Vincent S. Carmen, CCJE
As a growing college in our University and a Top Performing Criminology in the Nation, College of Criminal Justice Education’s goal is to conduct a seminar on the latest trends in the Criminology profession not only in Region III and to other regions in the Philippines.
This seminar is intended to inform and update our students regarding the new law that governs our profession: RA 11131 otherwise known as the “Philippine Criminology Profession act of 2018”. Aside from updating the criminology students, graduates and practitioners, one of the major targets of TSU-CCJE is to help other schools in elevating theirpassing rate and maintaining their top performance in the Criminologists Licensure Examination (CLE).
CCJE of TSU is the most invited criminology school to discuss Latest Trends in Criminology with Dr. Theodore M. Timpac, Dean of the said College as the speaker, thus, earned the recognition of being the first criminologist entire the Philippines to be invited to different schools to discuss the said topic. Some of the schools who requested professional assistance include King’s College of the Philippines of La Trinidad, Benguet (a consistent Top-Performing School in December Criminologists Licensure Examination) wherein the present Dean in the said College is Dr. Dempsey Depayso, United School of Science and Technology (USST) situated at San Isidro, Tarlac with Mr. Mariano as the program head of the said school and the Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo Campus (LSPU) with Dr. Wankey as theirDean. LSPU San Pablo Campus is also a Top-Performing School of Criminology in the Philippines.
There was also a time when Dr. Timpac, the Dean of TSU-CCJE was asked,“How does it feel like to be invited by different criminology schools to discuss the trends in our profession?” His response goes this way, “To be invited as a guest speaker by different criminology schools is both an honor, pride and opportunity. It is an honor and pride since other school value us and trust our skills and ability in discussing the latest trends in criminology. It is also an honor to represent our University.
It is an opportunity because we get a chance to market our extension services and TSU as a whole. That somehow, we are getting closer in accomplishing one of the goals of our University and that is to be a champion in community development”.
